I have just filled for bankruptcy and know they will be garnishing payments from my pay check. I was just wondering if any one could tell me if it is before or after federal taxes and FICA and medicare deductions. I live in Tennessee if that helps.
I am trying to get an idea of what my take home pay will be now— for budgeting purposes.

I have been talking to a few attorney’s and they tell me that you can surrender property in either a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy.

If you "surrender" the property, does it still count as a foreclosure against you? Does the bankruptcy protection, from either a Chapter 7 or 13, protect you from possible lawsuits etc?

I know many people view Chapter 7 as liquidation, but I have been told by many attorney’s you can also surrender in a 13 but people just opt not to.

I hear a lot of people always say "You can keep your property under Chapter 13". What if you don’t want your home becaue it is the main source of you going bankrupt?

To me I believe that colleges and universities are scamming us slowly into bankruptcy, the costs just keep getting higher, instead of the teachers going on why shouldn’t the students go on strike for lower costs – just a thought

ps – if you are a teacher there sorry to offend if I did

When it should be dealing with the impending bankruptcy of Social Security and Medicare, when it should be worried about illegal immigrants, when it should be dealing with the brain drain and export of American jobs overseas, when we’ve become embroiled in overseas wars that have destabilized parts of the world and appear to have no end and we are running up huge deficits? Given these big issues why is flag burning and online gambling of national importance?

I filed for bankruptcy about a month ago, and paid him in full last week for chapter 7. Well my bills for my loans and credit cards are due again and I’m wondering do I still have to pay them since i already paid my lawyer and filled out all the paperwork for the chapter 7. Or do I just let it ride until he does whatever it is he does?

About 2 months ago we put an attorney on retainer to file chapter 13. Since then we have not heard from our attorney as they are extremely busy with all the bankruptcy filings going on now. We have not filed yet as the attorney has not finished up the paperwork. Today we found out that my husband has lost a significant amount of his income..0…per month. I realize that the court figures your payment off your last 6 months income, but our income is different now. Can we wait to file for another 6 months in order for his change in income to take place? Or can they figure that loss now, even though we have had that income for the last 6 months. We left a message for our attorney, but they are very slow getting back with us. Any help or personal experience someone has will be helpful.

Don’t give me a "debt management" of "consolidation" solution as I will report you as a SPAMMER.

I have already begun the paperwork for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and know it will be a long hard road to fix my credit.

This is for those who have already or are in the process of filing for BK or those who know the process well, ONLY.

Fed law requires pre-filing counseling and a "certificate". I can do the counseling class online which I prefer. What companies have people who filed BK used for pre-filing counseling and and post-discharge counseling?

AND if you think I can get around the BK with the amazing "debt consolidation company" you are about to mention, don’t… it just shows you haven’t read my question and have no idea what the process is all about. I have no other options but to file BK right now.

And please don’t preach to me about the evils of credit or bankruptcy or how great your loan co or debt consolidation co is. I’m experiencing the evils and just want my life back

I have plain old life insurance with my husband as beneficiary. Do I have to cancel life insurance if I file bankruptcy? I want to have this for security for my husband and five children should anything ever happen to me. It has no cash value.

My spouse & I finalized bankruptcy and it was discharged in July, 2007. We owe very little, but do need to consolidate some medical bills and a high-interest loan we want to pay off. All our bills are current and paid on time. We do have adequate income to make monthly payments on a ,000 loan.

HELP! I need to write a huge paper on this..any insight would be appreciated!

Accountants are frequently faced with situations where they must make critical decisions that will affect many people. Having a plan for how to analyze these situations will help you to make better decisions.
The first step is to recognize that you are faced with a situation where there are ethical issues involved. For this, you have to rely on your own ethical compass as well as standards and statements from professional organizations and from your employer. In this particular situation, you already know that the issue presented involves an ethical dilemma.

To continue your analysis, identify the stakeholders — those who have an interest in the outcome of the decision. Put yourself in their situation and try to understand their perspective. What are the ethical perspectives of each major stakeholder? What codes of conduct apply? What laws apply?

Once you understand the responsibilities and obligations of each stakeholder, analyze the various alternative choices available. What are the consequences of each alternative? Now choose the best from among the alternatives you identified.

Here is the situation I would like you to analyze. This is a true story.

"A Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a million company that repairs aircraft engines received notice from a number of its customers that engines that it had recently repaired had failed, and that the company’s parts were to blame. The CEO had not yet determined whether his company’s parts were, in fact, the cause of the problem. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had been notified and was investigating the matter.

What complicated the situation was that the company was in the midst of its year-end audit. As part of the audit, the CEO was required to sign a letter saying that he was not aware of any significant outstanding circumstances that could negatively impact the company — in accounting terms, of any contingent liabilities. The auditor was not aware of the customer complaints or the FAA investigation.

The company relied heavily on short-term loans from eight banks. The CEO feared that if these lenders learned of the situation, they would pull their loans. The loss of these loans would force the company into bankruptcy, leaving hundreds of people without jobs. Prior to this problem, the company had a stellar performance record."

Write a paper analyzing this ethical situation according to the model described above. When you list the alternative choices and their consequences, be sure to include both possible outcomes of the FAA investigation — whether the company was responsible, or whether the company was not at fault.

I have a 420 fico credit score, but I am hoping that after the bankruptcy my score will go up and maybe then I can get a better
rate. Does this sound reasonable?

I want to apply for a park ranger job.

I was discharged in bankruptcy 3 years ago. I know legally they are not susposed to discriminate against you for this, but really, what is the deal?

Also, my last job was 6 years ago and I got fired for not showing up to work. this is the technical reason. The reason I did not show up was that I got very ill and was off of work for over 5 months on the family medical leave act and I was still not well after that time but I did not go back to work and did not resign–I just never went back and they fired me. I wish I could go back and do things over so I could get a good reference, but that is life and I can not go back now. I was a model employee up to this point, but legally, when called for a reference, all they can say is 1. yes, i worked there and then when asked would you hire her back, they would say "no"

that doesn’t sound good but that is all they can say–nothing about my steller work performance.

after i lost my job and was ill for several months my money ran out and then i went bankrupt.

I have been self employed since that time.

Here are my questions:

1. should i include the work experience that I got fired from or just omit it from the application?

2. am I wasting my time even trying to get a federal job after bankruptcy?

I know it is long, but thanks for your time.

Franken, however, confirmed that the network, which debuted in March 2004, is suffering from cash-flow problems. He told Radar Online about the bankruptcy claim: "I don’t know if that’s true or not. We do know that there have been cash-flow problems. I haven’t been paid in a while. Like, there’s no cash flowing to me.”
