Does anyone know of inexpensive Chapter 7 Bankruptcy software for non-attorneys (Legal Document Assistants)?
I’m looking for software online and I’m coming up short or am leery about buying from shady online vendors.
This is the last thing I need to take care of before I get bonded and register with the county clerk in order to become an at-home Bankruptcy Petition Preparer. I’ve already studied the necessary materials and know what I can and can’t do (prep. forms, attend meeting of creditors, not allowed to delegate legal advice/opinions).
I can afford up to 0 for Chapter 7 software but not more expensive than that. Ideally, the type of software I’m looking for would contain all necessary forms (voluntary petition, schedules A-J, matrix, etc.) and the client questionnaire.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@ckngbbbls: I appreciate the help, however I’m not a debtor. I’m going to be working on bankruptcy petitions and need to find affordable chapter 7 software asap. If it was something I could find at Frys or your average computer store I would get it there, but legal software is only sold through certain types of vendors and unfortunately online vendors (aside from West-Thompson which caters solely to attorneys) seem to all be shady.
Thank you for your quick response. I hope I get lucky and a fellow LDA/BPP responds to this question.
@KC: Thank you for your help as well, however I have the NOLO press "How To File For Chapter 7 Bankruptcy" text. I’ll be recommending it to each of my clients in order to avoid delegating legal advice.
What I’m looking for is some type of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy software that has the forms and client questionnaire bundled into the software. I know it exists because my former supervising attorney uses a program called Chapter 7.13, however that software he uses is available exclusively to attorneys. Therefore, I need the same type of software, only I need it to cater to non-attorneys like myself (Legal Document Assistants/Bankruptcy Petition Preparers).
Thanks again. ![]()

you can find everything you need for this at the public library.
My friend and her husband filed for bankruptcy and the only cost they had was the filing fee costs. They got the info at the library, got the proper papers and filled them out and went from there.

Nolo: How to File for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. There is a download version or book and ebook PDF.. The book has 38 forms as well. http://www.nolo.com/products/how-to-file-for-chapter-7-bankruptcy-HFB.html. I think this is as good as you can find. There are no Turbo Bankruptcy type software. With Bankruptcy you/work product will need to go to an actual US District Court.
