I am in need of a place to live but currently am in chapter 13.?
"I am currently in a chapter 13 bankruptcy and need to find a place to rent. I am not a bad person but have had some really bad things happen and had to get on a repayment plan through the courts. Now I need a place to live. Will I be able to rent from someone in my situation? I am a single parent and I need a home for myself and my child. I’ve been on my job for a long time now but need to find a place that rents for less than what I was paying to make ends meet. I moved with my parents but can’t stay here for long because of the space. Will I get turned down if I try to find someplace to live? I am willing to pay extra deposit or rent if reasonable. Does anyone know a website that address this situation.

I would agree with the initial post and add that if you are upfront about your situation, you may find that it is not that big a deal.
I would not offer too much additional rent or security deposit; let the landlord make that proposal. Maybe you could just ask them under what circumstances they would rent to someone in your situation.
Having a good reference from your previous landlord would be a good thing as is your job time. Provided you can afford the rent, I think you should be able to find something.
Good luck.

The internet is a wonderful resource but this is a time for shoe leather and personal networking. Read the "for rent" ads in the paper. Go see anything that sounds suitable and make a personal pitch for understanding. Agreeing to pay an extra month in advance will help with your credibility. If you have a letter from a former landlord, take that with you.
If you left your prior home or apt. in good standing, you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a landlord who will give you a chance. Look for smaller properties rather than large complexes as they may have more flexible credit guidelines.
