My boyfriends sister is going to jail(Tent City in AZ). She got the max sentence and max time. It was her first DUI but it was an extreme(over 1.5 B.A or whatever). So got the maximum 45 days in jail. Her attorney told her that because they gave her the max to forget about her 6k fines. She was planning on filing bankruptcy. She got laid off and our economy sucks out her hard core right now. She isn’t getting child support and unemployment is going to run out.

That part makes sense to me because their is no "debtors jail." I went to her sentencing with her today and heard the judge even say this to her when she expressed her concern about not being able to pay.

My concern is that her attorney also told her that because she got the maximum jail time, that she doesn’t have to worry about alcohol screening(which she has to pay something to go to every class) and her community service. She got charged to do both.

When she told me this earlier, it just didn’t sound right. Technically, she isn’t on "probation", but I can’t find anything online about this. Anyone have any idea if she doesn’t comply with the fines(at least until she can afford it) and the community service and the classes, wouldn’t she have a warrant put out on her? Why or why not?

Her lawyer has been practicing for 30 years, but I can’t find anything online and it just doesn’t sound right to me. Again, she isn’t on probation…but it doesn’t sound like it makes sense.
Going to jail again I mean.
She is not lying. With how terrified she has been about all this, it wouldn’t make sense for her to just not get it over with. She has never been in trouble with the law and has a 15year old son to raise on her own. If she didn’t believe it to be true, she wouldn’t risk going to jail.

I’m 28 years old and I still fear what they think of me. They are in their 60’s and live in another region of the country. The distance has cured some strains in our relationship, but there are a couple decisions I have to make. I don’t see a reason to consult them, because all I’ll get are nagging and criticism. I hate being reminded of how much I suck and how badly I manage my life. Here are two major decisions:

1. filing bankruptcy-the debt is too great.

2. getting married-after 4 years with the same person, it’s about time.

To #2 they would tell me that I’m too young and immature. They probably won’t even go to the wedding.

If they had it their way, I wouldn’t be married until I’m 35. In the meantime, they want me to move in with them. Normally that’s an age when parents are pressuring their children to have children, but these parents are different!

Okay, so this is my situation. I’m a 24 year old male, and I cannot focus in anything. My finances are terrible (like, I’ll be filing bankruptcy in a month or two), and I am never up on anything or even like aware of my surroundings when I go into a new situation. I can’t focus on a particular assigned task in college and I have been unemployed for about a year due to my symtpoms. It’s just gotten worse as more time goes by. I feel like a loser, because I am right now.

My moods change from being jumpy and inappropriate in social situations, around family. In new environments I get really frustrated really easy, and make stuff up about my past achievements (even though I do have quite a few, like successful online ventures but nothing in the real world), and it is just getting to the point where I am getting sick of it.

I’ll be real talkative about an area I’m interested in or thinking of starting a business in (either on Ebay, Craigslist, or whatever), and I don’t really have the experience to be doing it so I just never get anywhere with it.

It’s like my moods cycle too, as I’m being talkative and outgoing I’ll cut someone down out of the blue for no reason, and can’t really appreciate their point of view if it’s not my own (in an area that interests me).

I spend so much time online thinking, talking to people I barely know in real life, and never getting anywhere.

Is this bipolar, ADHD, depression, or a combination of Bipolar and ADHD?

I was diagnosed as ADHD when I was like 9 and had a pretty bad time in my high school years, and it’s still not going well for me and my situation hasn’t improved at all and doesn’t look like it will be anytime soon. What can I do?

Okay, here is the deal. My husband and I filed Chapter 13 bankruptcy in August (we included our mortgage) Well, we had a baby a week after filing bankruptcy and i was out of work for 3 months and also when we filed bankruptcy my husband was unemployed. So needless to say we have fallen behind on our mortgage AGAIN! We owe for October, November and December……
I am back at work and my husband has since gotten a full time job, but we are unable to make all 3 payments at once…Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Will we lose our home? I called my attorney, and they have yet to call me back. I called the mortgage company and offered 1 payment and they told me to contact the attorney..Any help would be appreciated!

I have an online business and i was shocked to find out that i haven’t get too much orders in the last 4 days. Before that, sales were good. What is happening? I got 3 orders in 4 days window. Oh my God, i don’t know what is going to happen next. I tried my best to give my customers the best price they can get in the market but unfortunately the economy may not be good. I just keep my faith high and hope that i would not be filing bankruptcy anytime soon.

I used to be very responsible with my money. I have about 3 years worth of college but never finished with an bachelor’s degree. I used to work and have a great life and my own apartment. When I moved back home, My very negative mother and somewhat controlling parents greatly rubbed off on me. I have had trouble ever since. With college, jobs, and money and ended up filing bankruptcy, because I was trying to rebel against their lectures on credit cards. Now I cant do anything. My mom has become this mean dictator, and I see her true colors. My dad just doesn’t understand. I need to get an apartment and I know I could keep my job after I got my own apartment. I’d just visit my friends and limit my time with my negative mother!
Do you think there is any chance the bank would loan me about 1,500 dollars for a loan on an apartment?? I am also a part time college student.
thanks so much.

I bought furniture at a store and in return, they offered me 0 in claimyourgas vouchers and 0 in claimyourgroceries vouchers. i even bought extra furniture i didnt want because i would get these vouchers. they promised that through this company, i would send in receipts for gas/groceries that equaled up to 0 and in return, they would send me a 25$ debit card… until i had received 0 in these debit cards. then when i went online to register my account for these vouchers, the site said that they were filing bankruptcy, so they could no longer send the debit cards. so i paid extra for all this furniture to receive all these vouchers, yet i was never able to use them. what can i do to get my 0? theres gota be something, they owe me right? anyone else had this problem? what did you do? im not ready to give up, 0 is alot of money to just give up on without putting up a fight!

Before we answer this question, we must first determine what type of information is needed to complete a free bankruptcy case evaluation online.

There are four essential parts of an online free bankruptcy evaluation. The first part quite simply asks for your reason for thinking about filing bankruptcy. Here a number of reasons are given for you to check. The most common of which may be a job loss or illness.

This sounds a little tricky but it’s not really. I am planning on filing bankruptcy in November as a result of a writ put on my bank account due to a credit card that wasn’t paid off (and I was never served the papers for).

I currently live in PA but will be moving to NJ in October which is in my favor pertaining to the BK I learned. Also I am adopting my cousin’s child who will be coming to live with me in Nov. I was told to wait until he is here to file because that will also help my case. My main concern is that I don’t want it to go to a chap 13 BK.

Any advice on what I can do right now to help set myself up for making sure it becomes a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy would be appreciated. Thank you for your help. Any spam answers, pointless one word answers etc.. will be reported.

Thank you,
Mary

I finally left when I couldn’t take his drinking anymore. He is in the house and he loves the house — he should have it. I am just wondering what would seem fair in a divorce settlement on it. I know he can’t borrow against it right now to pay me off, as we are in the midst of filing bankruptcy — but we have had the house for over 16 years and I am looking for something fair for both of us when it comes to the division of this property. Our kids are all grown and on their own so there is no child custody issues. We also own shares in a business together and I would like to see him keep half the shares. I would like to stay on his medical coverage but am not seeking any spousal support — even though he made 45,000.00 last year and I made less than 8,000.00 Is there a lawyer online that would be willing to advise me as I file my divorce online? I don’t have any additional money to actually obtain an attorney and I don’t want all the attorney costs. I just want my life back.
My children understand why I left, however, they do not understand why I want the divorce — since they don’t want to deal with the option that someday I may meet someone else…this is the attitude of my grown children. The call thier dad homer and say he is like a big brother to them.

people advise against filing bankruptcy because "it will ruin your credit score"?
What do you do if you just dont have the money to get out of debt and you have LOTS of it and the interest just makes it worse and worse?
The icing on the cake is that it actually costs you at least 00 just to file for bankruptcy. What if you can’t even afford that?
If you file bankruptcy then yes, it will be on your record for 7-10 years. But if you just remain in debt that you physically can’t pay back, wont that remain much longer? It will just never go away.

And to top it off, jobs run background AND credit checks now so we can’t even get jobs that pay enough to afford to pay back debt on top of regular everyday expenses.

I received a notification in the mail that my wages are being garnished by a credit card company, for an outstanding debt. I cannot afford for this to happen because I am a single mother of my daughter. How much or what percentage can be garnished? I live in Maryland. I read on a website that they can take all but 0 of my check a month. Is this true? I am currently unemployed but I have had numerous job interviews. I assume that once I become employed my wages would be garnished immediately. I am thinking of filing bankruptcy because I have other credit card companies that will be coming after me for money that I do not have. I heard bankruptcy can be filed online to save money for a lawyer. I do not have money to pay a lawyer. PLEASE HELP!
Yes, I did have a court date but I did not go because I knew I owed the money and I did not have the money for a lawyer.
I’m afraid if I don’t file bankruptcy I will have no money left to raise my daughter. I owe about 00 to different credit card companies. Can they all garnish me at one time? If so, I may not have enough money to get my daughter what she needs.
thank you so much for your responses. It is a huge weight lifted off of my shoulder. So you think I should not file for bankruptcy? How long do you believe it would take me to pay off the 00 debt? Once it is paid off, will my credit go back up, with time? I have a car loan but it is on time.

I have bad credit due to a tragedy that happened in my life 5 years ago. My credit score is around 500. I am now thinking I should just file bankruptcy (chapter 7) since my credit is ruined anyway. Most of the items on my credit report are charged off. Am I going to be better off filing bankruptcy? How long will it take to improve my credit after bankruptcy? There is no way to pay these debts.
