Will Chapter 7 Bankruptcy effect the interest rate on my private student loans? ?
Right now the interest is at ~8% with a balance of about k and I am worried that if I file the interest will skyrocket. I’ve heard of people paying 20% or something outrageous… I’m not sure I could swing that.
Also, I know that I can’t have the private student loans discharged in chapter 7, though I was told that there is something referred to as "chapter 20" where you combine chapters 7 and 13. Would it be possible to file chapter 13 on the student loans? What would happen at the end of the repayment term (5 years or so) and how does the court decide what your payments would be?
